Vice PM Zubko: Trade turnover between Ukraine and China reached $6.5 bln in 2016

Ukraine intends to assist in technological optimization of the infrastructure and transport systems of Eurasia in the scope of the Silk Road project.

Vice Prime Minister – Minister for Regional Development, Construction, Housing and Utilities Hennadiy Zubko stated this in Kyiv on Monday during the opening of the "One Belt One Road" festival, the Chinese-Ukrainian cultural exchange week, the government’s press service reports.

"The Silk Road is an investment artery that connects Central Asia with Europe and other regions of the world. Ukraine is the first European country on this path and we are ready to make our contribution to the technological optimization of the infrastructure and transport systems of Eurasia in order to stimulate the world economy,” said Zubko.

He also recalled that the bilateral trade turnover between Ukraine and China amounted to $6.5 billion in 2016. At the same time, according to Zubko, the EU imports Chinese products worth $300 billion annually, and therefore a significant part of the commodity flow could be transported through Ukraine.
