Slawomir Nowak: Only 50,000 km of roads to remain on balance of Ukravtodor

From January 1, 2018, as a result of decentralization reforms being carried out in Ukraine, 50,000 km of roads will remain in the responsibility of the Ukrainian State Road Agency (Ukravtodor), while the rest of roads will be transferred to the management of local authorities.

Acting Chairman of Ukravtodor Slawomir Nowak stated this during the ІІ Ukrainian Infrastructure Forum, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.

“The distribution of responsibilities for different types of roads is important, in other words we are speaking about decentralization. From January 1 next year, we will distribute responsibilities for different types of roads. This means that Ukravtodor will be responsible for 50,000 km of roads," Nowak said.

He also noted that such an agency in Poland is responsible for 18,000 km of roads.

As Ukrinform earlier reported, decentralization of Ukravtodor will be launched on January 1, 2018. A total of 120,000 km of roads of regional importance will be transferred to the management of local authorities.
