South Korea intends to invest in Ukrainian agribusiness

South Korean businessmen are interested in investing in the construction of mobile elevators, transshipment capacities and in a project of cultivating special elite onion varieties in Ukraine for exports to the EU.

Ukrinform learnt this from the Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

"Currently, Ukraine and Korea use only about 10% of the possible potential for mutual trade turnover, which could be increased up to $6-7 billion per year. We need a symbiosis of the traditional economy – metallurgy, chemistry, agricultural sector – and such new technologies as high-tech and bioengineering, which are Ukraine’s strength areas," President of the Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Hennady Chyzhykov said during the fourth Ukrainian-Korean Business Forum in Seoul.

As noted, a number of proposals were received from the Koreans, in particular, regarding the investments in construction of the mobile elevators, transshipment capacities and in a project of cultivating special elite onion varieties in Ukraine for exports to the EU.
