Rada ratifies agreement with EIB on financing urban public transport

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has adopted the law on ratification of the financial agreement between Ukraine and the European Investment Bank on the project "Urban Public Transport in Ukraine".

As an Ukrinform correspondent reports, 230 MPs voted in favor of the adoption of the law.

The financial agreement was signed in Kyiv last November in order to raise funds in the amount of EUR 200 million to ensure the stable functioning and further development of the public transport in the cities of Ukraine.

The ratification of the financial agreement will enable to provide the population with the high-quality services of transportation by buses, trams, trolleybuses and subway, in particular, taking into account the needs of people with disabilities with visual, hearing, musculoskeletal impairments and other low-mobile groups; to raise the level of technical equipment of public urban transport enterprises and the efficiency of their work; to preserve and develop the electric transport infrastructure and the shuttle bus network in Ukraine.
