Vice PM Kistion: Ukraine imports 40% of gas for own consumption

At present Ukraine imports 40% of natural gas, which is used for the needs of domestic consumers.

Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Kistion stated this during the II Ukrainian Gas Investment Forum, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.

“We haven’t purchased Russian gas for 482 days. However, a share of imported gas is still relatively high, around 40%. The Ukrainian gas industry is facing a problem - to increase the production by at least 35% as soon as possible, until 2020,” Kistion said.

The vice prime minister also stressed that Government, Parliament and gas companies should work jointly to achieve this.
