USAID launches Transformation of Financial Sector program worth $ 23 mln

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) on March 23 launched a new four-year program “Transformation of Financial Sector” in Kyiv, with a budget worth $23 million, Business Censor reports.

During the presentation of the program, the results of a nationwide survey on financial literacy, conducted in January 2017, were represented. The poll was conducted face to face and consisted of 85 questions. The main results of the survey: the majority of Ukrainians believe that buying anything on credit is either never justified, or can be done only in case of emergency; most citizens have one payment card; the population prefers cash payments to payment cards

The project will provide assistance in the following areas: increasing confidence in banks, enlarging access to financing in the non-banking fiscal sector, increasing the use of electronic finance, reforming the pension system.
