NBU suggests imposing sanctions against subsidiaries of Russian banks in Ukraine

The National Bank of Ukraine suggests imposing sanctions against the banks with Russia’s state capital in Ukraine in form of prevention of capital withdrawal from Ukraine.

Deputy Governor of the National Bank of Ukraine Yakov Smoliy said this at a press conference, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"In pursuance of the instruction [of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine regarding sanctions against the banks with Russian capital], the National Bank conducted the relevant analysis and suggests imposing sanctions in form of prevention of the capital withdrawal outside Ukraine in order to preserve stability in the country and ensure compliance of obligations of the Ukrainian banks with Russia’s state capital to their customers," Smoliy noted.

According to him, the NBU suggests imposing such sanctions on the banks with Russian capital, namely, Sberbank, Prominvestbank, VTB Bank, BM Bank, VS Bank.
