G7 Ambassadors urge termination of transport blockade in Donbas

The G7 Ambassadors in Ukraine (the UK, Germany, Italy, Canada, the USA, France, and Japan) have urged unblocking transport links in Donbas as it threatens the energy security of millions of citizens.

The statement was posted on Facebook page of the Embassy of the United Kingdom in Ukraine.

"Blockades of transport links threaten the energy security of millions of citizens. We urge all parties involved to look to the common good, and unblock railways and roads for legitimate trade," the statement reads.

G7 Ambassadors also urged the Ukrainian authorities to set out a transparent and accountable framework for energy supplies and to reinforce confidence ‎that public utilities are being operated for public benefit.

"More importantly, the government needs to modernize plants and undertake critical reforms to ensure long-term security of the nation’s energy supply," the G7 diplomats stressed.
