No reasonable basis for raising natural gas prices this year - Vice PM Rozenko

Natural gas prices for households have been raised to an economically feasible level, and there is no reasonable basis for another rise in prices this year.

Ukrainian Vice Prime Minister Pavlo Rozenko has stated this on Espreso.TV channel, commenting on a statement by Naftogaz Commercial Director Yuriy Vitrenko about a possible 40% rise in natural gas prices for households.

“Natural gas prices for households have already been raised to an economically feasible level. There should not be any rise in natural gas prices this year,” Rozenko said.

In addition, the tariff rates for other public utility services are not expected to be raised as well. Therefore, the Government will prevent any attempts to earn dividends in relation to this matter, according to Rozenko.

A reminder that Naftogaz Commercial Director Yuriy Vitrenko has stated earlier that natural gas prices for households may be raised by 40% from April 1, 2017 if the special obligations imposed on Naftogaz of Ukraine NJSC to sell natural gas to households at reduced rates are not extended.
