Infrastructure Minister Omelian: Ukraine, EU launch transport dialog

Infrastructure Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Omelian held a meeting with Director-General of the European Commission's Directorate General for Mobility and Transport Henrik Hololei on Monday, January 16.

“We had a heated discussion on the further cooperation between Ukraine and the European Commission. I’m glad that Henrik Hololei offered that a regular, annual transport dialogue between the EU and Ukraine be launched on the issues which form the agenda and which will contribute to both the implementation of new infrastructure projects and the development of a general transport strategy between the EU and Ukraine,” Minister Omelian stated following a meeting.

He also said that he together with Head of the State Agency of Automobile Roads of Ukraine (Ukravtodor) Slawomir Nowak will visit Brussels in the middle of February so that to discuss priority projects between Ukraine and the EU.

"The key task is a decrease in lines at the border, as well as bringing the Ukrainian border infrastructure to the European one as much as possible,” Omelian said.
