NBU limits daily cash payments to UAH 50,000 for individuals

From January 4, 2017, the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) lowered the maximum amount of daily cash payments between individuals from UAH 150,000 to UAH 50,000, NBU's press service reports referring to a relevant decree No. 407 issued by the NBU Board on November 25, 2016.

The decree sets a daily limit for cash payments between an individual and an enterprise (entrepreneur) and between individuals under purchase and sale agreements which are subject to notary certification at UAH 50,000. Individuals can make payments exceeding UAH 50,000 by transferring funds between current accounts, depositing and/or transferring funds into current accounts.

Non-cash payments remain unlimited, and banks shall conduct cashless money transfers at customer's request in full. Meanwhile, a daily limit for cash payments between enterprises (entrepreneurs) remains at UAH 10,000.

According to the NBU, establishing a daily limit for cash payments will not cause any inconveniences for Ukrainian citizens and will affect major purchases only (such as real estate, jewelry, vehicles, works of art, furs, etc.).
