Ukraine’s sugar exports exceed 335,000 tonnes this year

Ukrainian producers exported 335,250 tonnes of sugar worth $166.8 million for the first 11 months of 2016.

Ukrinform learnt this from Ukrtsukor National Association.

"For the first 11 months of 2016, Ukrainian producers exported 335,250 tonnes of sugar worth $166.8 million, having tripled the last year results. This significant growth is primarily reasoned by the favorable situation on the world market, as the devaluation of the national currency has reduced the cost of Ukrainian sugar in dollars and it has become more attractive for the international market," head of Ukrtsukor analytical department Ruslan Butilo said.

The largest share of Ukrainian sugar was sent to Guinea – 22% (25,000 tonnes), Sri Lanka – 19% (21,100 tonnes), and Tunisia – 16% (19,000 tonnes).
