Natural gas transit to Europe via Ukraine grew by 22%

Since the start of 2016, transit of natural gas via the Ukrainian gas transportation system to European consumers totaled over 73.5 billion cubic meters, which is by 22% up compared with the previous year, the press service of PJSC Ukrtransgaz reports.

“We expect that we’ll reach the level of 80 billion cubic meters by the end of the year,” President of PJSC Ukrtransgaz Igor Prokopiv said, when asked about projected volumes of gas transit over 2016.

According to the data provided by the Central Dispatch Department, 8.5 billion cubic meters of natural gas were transported in November, which is by 46% more than in the same period last year.

In the past two days, the daily volume of gas transit to Europe through the territory of Ukraine exceeded 300 million cubic meters of natural gas.

"Such a mode of natural gas transit was typical during the 2010-2013 heating seasons," according to Ukrtransgaz.
