Minister Semerak: Most Ukrainian companies licensed to recycle hazardous waste do not meet the standards

Ukrainian Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Ostap Semerak has stated that over 80% of Ukrainian companies licensed to recycle hazardous waste do not meet the established state standards.

“We have started the scheduled checks of all licensees [to recycle waste]. Unfortunately, statistics are very unpleasant for me as the minister and for every Ukrainian: more than 80 percent of companies, which had licenses and which allegedly worked with hazardous waste, do not meet the standards that Ukraine has approved this summer,” the minister said at a press briefing in Lviv, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

According to him, the city of Lviv will become an example of how the business on hazardous waste recycling should be built.
