Ukraine together with UN, EBRD establishes fund on Donbas reconstruction

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, the United Nations Organization and the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) have signed a Memorandum on mutual understanding and cooperation. 

The ceremony of signing took place in the Presidential Administration, the president’s press service reports.

In particular, the document envisages the creation of a fund that will accumulate funds of international and Ukrainian donors to support projects on Donbas reconstruction.

“This document is very important as it opens opportunities to significantly speed up the real reconstruction of the liberated territories of Donetsk and Luhansk regions. Also, a procedure established by the fund will be extremely important for helping people after the liberation of occupied Ukrainian territories,” president’s envoy to the Verkhovna Rada, MP Artur Herasimov stated, when commenting on the signing of the document.

The memorandum was signed by Minister for Temporary Occupied Territories and Internally Displaced Persons Vadym Chernysh, UN Resident Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative in Ukraine Neal Walker, and World Bank Country Director for Ukraine Satu Kahkonen.
