Vice PM Kubiv: Ukraine ready to integrate into EU digital economy

Ukraine has huge potential so that to integrate into the digital economy space of the European Union, Ukrainian First Vice Prime Minister, Minister for Economic Development and Trade Stepan Kubiv has said.

“I see huge potential in the sphere of digital economy. European Commissioner [for Digital Economy and Society Gunther] Oettinger has represented a full action plan for Ukraine's joining this area. This is a very big market. And it shows that Ukraine, taking into account the success in the issues of IT, software, is ready for this cooperation,” Kubiv said following his visit to Brussels, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

He also recalled that the IT sphere adds five percent of income to Ukraine’s GDP.

At the same time, the official noted that several correspondent laws should be adopted for the further development of digital economy in Ukraine.

Stepan Kubiv also said that he preliminary agreed with representatives of the European Commission to hold the forum on digital economy and technology in Ukraine.
