About 5.5 million Ukrainian families have submitted documents required for obtaining utility bill subsidies, which is twice as many as over the same period last year.

Ukrainian Vice Prime Minister Pavlo Rozenko said this at a selective meeting on Ukrainian enterprises’ readiness for the 2016/2017 heating season, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“As of today, documents required for obtaining subsidies have been drawn up or reissued for approximately 5.5 million Ukrainian families. This is twice as many as over the same period last year,” said Rozenko.

According to him, the number of applicants for subsidies increases every week. In particular, he noted that over 82,000 Ukrainian families applied for subsidies last weeks, the week before their number totaled 73,000, while two weeks ago – 50,000.
