Fight against corruption is key requirement for Ukrainian government - IMF

If Ukraine wants to maintain a current level of international economic support, including from the IMF, it has to cope with a main challenge - to overcome corruption.

Director of the IMF's European Department Poul M. Thomsen said this during a press conference in Washington on Friday, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.

"The fight against corruption is the key challenge for the Ukrainian government. It seems to me the country's leaders understand further support for Ukraine depends on success in this area," the representative of the fund said.

At the same time, the IMF noted the pace of reforms might be much higher.
