Minister Kutovyi: Farmers to get 5.5 bn hryvnyas in state support next year

The sum of 5.5 bn hryvnyas is envisaged in the 2017 State Budget in support of small and medium-size farmers, almost 20 times more than in 2016.

This was revealed in Baturin, Chernihiv Region, by Agriculture Minister Taras Kutovyi at a field meeting of the Parliamentary Committee on Agrarian Policy and Land Relations, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"Our suggestion is to direct one percent of gross agricultural production in Ukraine to support small and medium-sized producers - those who have, first and foremost, livestock, processing, additional jobs. The issue here is about 5.5 bn in the draft budget," he said.

"The size of the support will not be 25,000 but from 500,000 to 700,000, and up to one million hryvnyas," he said.
