European Commission to announce additional trade preferences for Ukraine in September

Ukraine and the EU expect the deep and comprehensive free trade area to start to yield positive economic returns in the near future.

Ukrainian Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman and EU Commissioner for Trade Cecilia Malmström discussed this during the meeting in Brussels on Tuesday.

The Ukrainian Prime Minister called on the European Commissioner to approve the introduction of additional EU’s economic and trade preferences for Ukraine as soon as possible. "The EU should strongly support Ukraine amid Russian transit and trade restrictions," he said.

In response, Malmstrom said that the European side would be ready to announce additional trade preferences for Ukraine in September.

PM Groysman noted in this context that the scope of EU trade preferences should include such categories of products as poultry, agricultural production of animal origin, flour, fruit juices, electrical goods, aluminum and goods made of it."
