President Poroshenko: FTA with Canada to remove 99% of barriers

Free trade area with Canada is to remove 99% of barriers in the international trade during next seven years.

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko said this at a joint press conference with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"The true mutually beneficial partnership is always a two-way road, and an important step in this direction has been taken today – the Ukrainian-Canadian free trade area agreement has been signed. It is not just removal of tariff restrictions. It is a clear commitment to removal of 99% of barriers in the international trade during next seven years. It is the preferential access for the products originating from the territory of Ukraine and Canada respectively, the access of Ukrainian producers to the system of public procurement in Canada and the access of Canadian producers to the public procurement in Ukraine," Poroshenko said.

According to the President, signing of this agreement will contribute to fight against corruption in Ukraine.
