U.S. Customs expert group analyzes operations processes at Ukrainian SFS

During a mission in the Ukrainian State Fiscal Service, experts from the U.S Customs and Border Protection Service studied the peculiarities of taxing excisable goods - petroleum, alcohol and tobacco, the Fiscal Service has said on it site

"The assessment group from the U.S. Customs and Border Protection Service, during its work in the Ukrainian State Fiscal Service, visited the specialized laboratory for examination and research issues," a statement noted.

The SFS has noted that the group focused on the possibilities of expert subdivisions SFS on applying the latest technology in research, detection of hazardous components in products, particularly in food items.

The American group also considered the main aspects of cooperation between specialized laboratories and law-enforcement authorities, regulatory agencies and other government agencies. Foreign counterparts, in particular, were interested in learning the methods for identification of narcotic drugs, psychotropic compounds and their precursors, as well as the implementation of control over the management of other hazardous substances.

As a reminder, the U.S. Customs and Border Service delegation started the needs assessment process in Ukraine within the framework of reforming the Ukrainian Customs Office.
