Poroshenko and Davutoglu agreed to step up energy cooperation

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko in the scope of his official visit to Turkey has held a meeting with Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu to discuss a joint cooperation, the president’s press service reports.

In particular, Poroshenko noted the importance of speeding up talks on a free trade agreement between Ukraine and Turkey.

The main attention at the meeting was focused on the prospects of cooperation between the two countries in trade and economic cooperation, investments, energy and transport.

President Poroshenko and Prime Minister Davutoglu also reached an agreement to extend mutual participation in the development of energy infrastructure and implementation of international energy corridors. The Ukrainian president also said that Ukraine could render Turkey a possibility to use Ukrainian underground gas storage facilities to store natural gas.

The sides also underlined the importance of using transit potential of Ukraine and Turkey in full. Thus, the Ukrainian president and the Turkish prime minister agreed to extend the cooperation in the sphere of international transportation.
