Yatsenyuk: Ukraine can become energy independent country within next 10 years

Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk is sure that Ukraine will become energy independent country within the next 10 years, if reforms are further carried out in the country.

Yatsenyuk said this during “10 minutes with the prime minister” TV program on Sunday evening, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“It is necessary to complete reform in the sphere of energy. We have lived through this winter without purchasing any cubic meter of Russian gas. We should ensure profitability and independence of Naftogaz of Ukraine, increase the production of own energy resources and ensure full energy independence of the country within the next 10 years,” Yatsenyuk said.

Ha also added that 10 years are the real term. The replacement of boilers, the continuation of subsidy programs, heat insulation of buildings and payments only for the qualitative utilities services are the main directions of the energy reform in Ukraine.
