Moskal: Inspectors of Uzhhorod airport reported blatant violations

The Transcarpathian region governor Hennady Moskal organized a meeting at Uzhhorod International Airport, where operations have been suspended for over a week.

The governor said that the ban on operating the airport had grounds because anyone can carry explosives on board of any aircraft and the runway is not clear from running hares and deer.

Moskal’s official site reports.

"Contrary to the regulations and guidelines, the airport grounds are not fenced, the area adjoining the runway is overgrown with thick bushes where wild animals roam, “said Moskal.

He instructed the services to take a series of measures to address these violations.

According to him, about six kilometers of fence must be installed. Finances are planned to implement the projects, some funds are allocated from the regional budget, and the remainder - from the State Fund for Regional Development.

The governor also said that it is impossible to complete the work in a short period of time, but if the regional authorities submit a project schedule with funding sources, the State Aviation will permit to resume airport operations.

Recall that Uzhhorod International Airport has been closed for flights since February 18 after the SBU officers reported violations that threaten the safety of passengers, and The State  Aviation Agency has suspended certification of aviation security of the airport.
