National Bank hopes to increase foreign currency reserves by $6 bln

The National Bank of Ukraine expects the foreign currency reserves of Ukraine to grow by USD 6.3 billion and to equal USD 19.6 billion by the end of 2016.

Governor of NBU Valeria Hontareva said this at the briefing, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"This year forecast [as for foreign currency reserves] is USD 19.6 billion," Hontareva said.

As a reminder, as of beginning of January 2016, the foreign currency reserves amounted to USD 13.3 billion. In early 2015, Hontareva stated that NBU would be able to increase its gold and foreign currency reserves up to USD 15 billion dollars before the end of the year.
