Gazprom bills Naftogaz $2.55 bln under take-or-pay terms

January 19, Gazprom has presented Ukraine's Naftogaz with a $2.55 billion take-or-pay bill for the third quarter of 2015.

This is said in the statement of the Russian gas monopoly.

"Pursuant to the effective contract between Gazprom and Naftogaz Ukraine, the buyer is obliged to pay annually for a minimum annual amount of gas. Based on the terms of the contract, the minimum annual amount of gas for the third quarter of 2015 amounted to 10.485 billion cubic meters of gas. In view of this and the volume of gas that Gazprom supplied in the third quarter, a bill for $2.549 billion was presented to Naftogaz. Gazprom expects the bill to be paid within ten days," reads the statement.

Gazprom CEO Alexei Miller said: "Ukraine effectively decided against buying Russian gas in the third quarter, and there were no agreements to waive the take or pay requirement for the period.”
