Poroshenko and Juncker coordinate final steps toward free trade area

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko and President of the European Commission Jean-Claude Juncker have coordinated positions ahead of the final round of trilateral Ukraine-EC-Russia consultations on the implementation of a free trade area.

“The leaders confirmed the invariable agreement on starting up the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area between Ukraine and the EU from January 1, 2016. They also coordinated positions ahead of the final round of ministerial Ukraine-EC-Russia trilateral consultations on the implementation of a free trade area, which will be held in Brussels on December 1,” reads a report.

The interlocutors also discussed Ukraine’s fulfillment of criteria needed to introduce a visa-free regime with the EU, in particular, the progress in carrying out anti-corruption reform and the ways to enhance energy security of Ukraine.
