Ukraine, China sign agreement on mutual recognition of certificates for organic produce

Ukraine and the People's Republic of China signed an agreement on a mutual recognition of certificates for organic produce that will enable Ukrainian producers of organic produce to obtain opportunities to enter the Chinese market.

Head of Ukrainian center for organic certification and labeling Svetlana Berzina told Ukrinform at a press conference "Ukrainian producers of organic food have opportunities to enter Chinese market”.

"In particular, such cooperation involves mutual recognition of assessment on benefits of organic produce in the certification systems that will provide additional preferences in the Chinese market for Ukrainian producers in accordance with the principles stipulated by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO 14024), Global Ecolabelling Network (GEN) and WTO," she said.

The participants of the press-conference believe this event may be decisive in further development of Chinese-Ukrainian relations and the establishment of Ukraine in international food markets. "The current agreement could open for a Ukrainian producer doors the world of magnificent opportunities where a lot of money can be made," noted Berzina.
