A participant in Ukraine’s Brave1 defense technology cluster has developed a system that automates 95% of the entire Shahed interception process – from drone launch to target destruction. The next-generation interceptor drones are now being scaled up for wider deployment.

According to Ukrinform, this was announced on Telegram by Ukraine’s Minister of Defense Mykhailo Fedorov.

"We continue to systematically strengthen the protection of our skies. A Brave1 participant has created a technology that automates 95% of the interception process – from launching the drone to destroying a Shahed. The development has successfully undergone combat testing in the Kharkiv region," Fedorov said.

According to the Minister, the operator monitors target movements in real time, selects a target, and authorizes engagement. The system then independently guides the drone to the target, autonomously identifies it, and homes in on the Shahed drone.

"With Brave1’s support, the developer was able to progress from a prototype to successful combat deployment in less than a year," Fedorov noted.

He added that autonomy is one of the key areas of development for modern air defense systems. Technologies of this kind make it possible to respond more rapidly to large-scale aerial attacks and more effectively protect Ukrainian cities.

Fedorov also emphasized that the Ministry of Defense is scaling up solutions that have already proven effective under combat conditions.

As reported by Ukrinform, the number of successful strikes against Russian targets located more than 50 kilometers from the frontline has doubled.
