About 43% of Ukrainians ready to join rebuff if Russia invades

poll

In case of a new invasion of the Russian Federation, about 43% of Ukrainians are ready to join the rebuff in one form or another.

"About 43% of Ukrainians are ready to join the fight against aggression in one form or another," Maria Zolkina, an analyst at the Ilko Kucheriv Democratic Initiatives Foundation, said during a public discussion "Ukraine in 2022: what expectations unite Ukrainians with the civilized world" held at Ukrinform.

Moreover, she clarified, 10.5% would be ready to join the Armed Forces of Ukraine at the front, 9% would join the volunteer forces, and another 23% would be ready to provide all possible non-military assistance (money, work, as blood donors, etc.).

"In total, 43% of respondents are ready for the active military or non-military participation. At the same time, 22.5% of respondents do not believe that a new invasion will take place. That is, Ukrainian society has a certain level of anxiety. However, 20% of people who are ready to actively join the Armed Forces or volunteer battalions is a very serious figure, at least it indicates a serious spread of such active sentiments. Moreover, 23% are willing to help on a volunteer basis," the analyst commented.

The nationwide poll was conducted by the Ilko Kucheriv Democratic Initiatives Foundation together with the Razumkov Centre Sociological Service from December 17 to 22, 2021, in all regions of Ukraine, except Crimea and the occupied territories of Donetsk and Luhansk region. A total of 2,018 respondents aged 18 and older were interviewed. The theoretical sampling error is 2.3%.
