Markarova: United States to hand over several military boats to Ukraine

This year, Ukraine will receive several Island and Mark VI military boats from the United States.

“It [Island-class boat] will be handed over and delivered in the near future. We are cooperating very actively here ... We are a bit dependent on transport, but this is exactly the first quarter of 2022,” Ambassador of Ukraine to the United States Oksana Markarova told Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty in an interview.

In addition, Markarova added, Mark VI patrol boats are to be sent to Ukraine in 2022. Their number is being discussed.

"There could be three or more of them. We are working to find resources and everything else to get more… The task is to have boats of different types, bases, and you know that Ukraine is also building a corvette, so that all this is combined into one capacity. So that we understand that when we fully launch this, together with the trainings for our sailors, this area is completely protected,” the Ambassador said.

As reported, U.S. President Joe Biden signed the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) which defines funding for major United States defense policies and, inter alia, stipulates the allocation of security assistance to Ukraine.
