FM Kuleba outlines Ukraine’s key needs in defense sphere

Minister of Foreign Affairs Dmytro Kuleba emphasized that Ukraine has a full right to receive military technology and weapons and outlined Ukraine’s key needs in the defense sphere – missile defense systems and air defense systems.

"As for the needs in the defense sphere, first of all, we are talking about specific things that strengthen our armed forces – from equipment, military hardware. Because the army is not just about tanks, planes and guns. There are other important things: paramedicine [emergency care], communication systems. Our key needs now are missile defense systems and air defense systems," Kuleba told reporters on the sidelines of the Meeting of NATO Ministers of Foreign Affairs in Riga on November 30.

He also noted that Ukraine is not under any sanctions or embargo on arms supplies.

"So, the decision whether to sell and transfer military technologies and weapons to Ukraine or not is exclusively a matter of policy and not a matter of any legal restrictions," the foreign minister stressed.

As reported, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba takes part in the Meeting of NATO Ministers of Foreign Affairs in Riga (November 30-December 1) at the invitation of Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg.

After that, Kuleba will fly to Stockholm to take part in the 28th OSCE Ministerial Council meeting (December 2-3).
