Danilov, U.S. House Armed Services Committee head discuss Ukraine-U.S. cooperation

Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine (NSDC) Oleksiy Danilov and Chairman of U.S. House Committee on Armed Services Adam Smith have discussed the issues of Ukraine-U.S. cooperation.

According to the NSDC’s press service, Danilov thanked for the assistance provided by the United States to Ukraine in the security sphere, which, according to him, is extremely important for Ukraine and significantly strengthens the state's ability to resist Russian aggression.

During the meeting, the parties also discussed a wide range of other issues, in particular, related to clarifying the current needs of Ukraine in the military sphere.

The NSDC Secretary paid special attention to the issue of cyber weapons. He noted that cyber weapons are becoming the "number one weapon" in modern wars and in the future. Danilov stressed that cybersecurity is a key component of national security.

Among other participants in the meeting were members of the Committee Mike Rogers, Rick Larsen, Steven Palazzo and Paul Arcangeli, as well as Chargé d'Affaires a.i. of the United States in Ukraine Kristina Kvien.

The NSDC secretary also asked the chairman of the U.S. House Armed Services Committee to assist in considering Ukraine’s formal application for membership in the NATO Cooperative Cyber Defense Center of Excellence (CCDCOE).
