OSCE SMM reports 124 daily truce breaches in eastern Ukraine

The OSCE Special Monitoring Mission recorded 121 daily violations of the ceasefire in Donetsk region and another three breaches in Luhansk region.

That’s according to the SMM’s Daily Report No. 180/2021 of August 4, seen by Ukrinform.

"In Donetsk region, the SMM recorded 121 ceasefire violations, including 14 explosions. In the previous reporting period, it recorded 25 ceasefire violations in the region," the report said.

Most of the ceasefire violations occurred at the disengagement site in the area of ​​the Petrivske village (non-government-controlled, 41 km south of Donetsk).

"In Luhansk region, the Mission recorded three ceasefire violations. In the previous reporting period, the SMM recorded no ceasefire violations," the report added.

It is noted that among the three breaches, one was unable to be assessed as inside or outside the disengagement area near Zolote (government-controlled, 60km west of Luhansk), while two occurred near it.

As reported earlier, following a meeting of the Trilateral Contact Group (TCG) on July 22, 2020, where parties agreed on additional measures to strengthen the ceasefire from 00:01 on July 27, 2020, and until the end of the reporting period, the SMM recorded almost 48,000 truce violations.
