Ukraine's state defense conglomerate Ukroboronprom is strengthening its defense partnership with Sri Lanka, Ukroboronprom's press service has reported.

"On April 22, as part of President Volodymyr Zelensky's order to develop exports and expand military and technical cooperation, Ukroboronprom CEO Yuriy Husyev met with a Sri Lankan military delegation led by the country's Air Force Commander, Air Marshal Sudarshana Pathirana," the report reads.

Prospects for cooperation in the aviation industry were discussed during the event.

"Ukroboronprom is interested in developing its partnership with Sri Lanka and receiving new orders for aircraft repair services and supply of products to this country. The foreign side also has a desire to strengthen relations in the military and technical sphere," the statement reads.

Husyev, in turn, stressed that aviation companies have a strong production base and skilled workers. "We offer not only high-quality repair of equipment, but also high-tech aircraft: universal modern An-178 transport aircraft that can be used by military and civilian entities. I am confident that cooperation between Ukroboronprom and Sri Lanka will develop and we will have a lot of big joint projects in the future," he added.
