Russian-led forces violate ceasefire in Donbas five times

Over the past day, five ceasefire violations were recorded in the Joint Forces Operation area in eastern Ukraine.

"In the area of ​​responsibility of the operational and tactical group ‘East’, the Russian occupation forces fired 120mm mortars, grenade launchers of various systems and a heavy machine gun near Vodiane in the Sea of Azov area. In the afternoon, the enemy fired several unaimed shots from grenade machine gun on Ukrainian positions outside Opytne (12km north-west of Donetsk) and from small arms - near Hnutove (20km north-east of Mariupol),” the press center of the JFO Headquarters reports.

The OSCE representatives were informed about all the facts of ceasefire violations through the Ukrainian side of the Joint Control and Coordination Center (JCCC). Ukrainian soldiers opened fire in response to the enemy shelling.

The ceasefire was observed in the area of responsibility of the operational and tactical group "North". Ukrainian troops sustained no casualties.

Today, January 7, no ceasefire violations have been recorded in the Joint Forces Operation area.

"The situation in the JFO area remains controlled by Ukrainian soldiers," the Headquarters informs.
