229 National Guard members killed in Donbas over almost five years

Since the start of the anti-terrorist operation in 2014, 229 National Guard members have been killed and more than 900 persons have been wounded in the combat zone in Donbas.

The units of the National Guard were among the first to defend the territorial integrity in the east of the country.

"229 National Guard members have been killed while performing tasks in the areas of conduct of Anti-Terrorist Operation / Joint Forces Operation and 912 members have been wounded... Our servicepersons have gained experience in combat operations, performed responsible and complex tasks within the Anti-Terrorist Operation and Joint Forces Operation," the press service of the National Guard of Ukraine reports.

As noted, the National Guard continues to serve in all regions of the country (except the temporarily occupied territories) to protect public order, life, rights, freedoms and legitimate interests of citizens, defend important state facilities, and escort the defendants.
