Ukraine’s intelligence: Number of Russian special forces’ snipers increasing in Donbas

An increasing number of sniper weapons and sniper groups from various units of the special forces of the Russian Federation is recorded in the occupied Donbas this year.

"We also note an increase in the number of sniper weapons and sniper groups. And here we are talking not only about the FSB sniper unit, information about which is available in open sources, but also about other special units - they hone their skills in combat order on our territory," Vadym Skibitsky, representative of the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine, said in an interview with Ukrinform.

Skibitsky noted that the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine constantly monitored the supply of weapons and military equipment from the territory of the Russian Federation to the occupied territories through uncontrolled areas of the border, as well as their combat use in Ukrainian territory.

In particular, Russian Zastava unmanned aerial vehicle, which is in service with the Russian army only, was shot down this year.

In addition, the military intelligence continues to record the use of Russian electronic warfare and electronic intelligence systems, which have been accepted for service in the Russian Federation since 2012.

"We see Russians entering our territory, testing and using their new weapons and equipment systems in combat conditions. After that, they return to the territory of the Russian Federation for modernization and training for further use in hostilities," Skibitsky said.
