Zelensky appoints Ukrainian Navy commander

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has appointed Rear Admiral Oleksiy Neizhpapa Commander of the Ukrainian Navy.

The head of state signed a decree to that effect, No. 217/2020, on June 11, according to the presidential press service.

Neizhpapa was born in Sevastopol (Crimea) in 1975. He graduated from the Sevastopol Naval Institute in 1997, the Sevastopol Naval Institute (operational and tactical level) in 2008, and the National Defense University of Ukraine in 2015.

In 2015-2019, he served as Deputy Commander of the Ukrainian Navy for Combat Training - Head of the Combat Training Department of the Command of the Ukrainian Navy.

From April 2020, Neizhpapa held the position of Deputy Commander of the Ukrainian Navy. He took part in the anti-terrorist operation in Donetsk and Luhansk regions.

He has repeatedly led the Ukrainian-American Sea Breeze exercises from the Ukrainian side.
