Over 1,000 houses damaged by Russian-backed forces to be restored in Donetsk region this year

At least 1,000 houses damaged as a result of Russia's armed aggression will be restored in Donetsk region in 2020, Deputy Head of Donetsk Regional State Administration Vadym Filashkin has said.

He said this during a working meeting online, according to the website of the regional state administration.

"The head of the region set for 2020 the task of restoring at least 1,000 residential buildings damaged by the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine. To do so, we have everything - material resources in the form of material reserves of all levels and performers of restoration work that will be provided by the State Emergency Service of Ukraine," Filashkin said.

He said the main key to the successful solution of all tasks was, first and foremost, the unconditional implementation of planned measures for restoration work and strict compliance with schedules.

Ihor Boiko, director of the department for civil defense, mobilization and defense work of the regional state administration, added that since the beginning of hostilities as of May 25, 2020, 13,255 residential buildings have been destroyed or damaged in the territories controlled by the Ukrainian authorities.

"We propose starting the restoration work with the houses located in the immediate vicinity of the contact line. As a result, we have 993 buildings where there is a possibility of safe restoration work and which can be restored by the personnel of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine," Boiko said.
