Russian-led forces fire 82mm mortars at Ukrainian positions near Nevelske

Russian-backed forces have attacked positions of Ukrainian Joint Forces near the villages of Orikhove and Nevelske in Donbas.

Ukrainian Defense Ministry spokesman Maksym Prauta said this at a briefing on Tuesday, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"As of 12:00 on May 5, the armed formations of the Russian Federation violated ceasefire in the Joint Forces Operation (JFO) area twice by firing small arms at Ukrainian defenders near Orikhove (57km north-west of Luhansk), and 82mm mortars on Ukrainian positions near Nevelske (18km north-west of Donetsk). The Ukrainian servicemen used duty fire weapons to stop the enemy shelling," he said.

According to available information, no casualties among Ukrainian military have been reported; the enemy's losses are being specified.

Prauta also noted that the command of the Russian-occupation troops was preparing for the next rotation of forward units.
