Russian-led forces violate ceasefire in Donbas using 120mm and 82mm mortars

Today, May 4, Russian-backed forces have violated ceasefire in the Joint Forces Operation (JFO) area in Donbas four times. No casualties among Ukrainian troops have been reported.

Ukraine’s Defense Ministry spokesman Oleksandr Motuzianyk said this at a briefing on Monday, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.

"Since the beginning of the current day, as of 12:00, the armed formations of the Russian Federation violated the Minsk agreements four times by firing mounted grenade launcher and 120mm mortars on Ukrainian defenders in the area of Krymske (42km north-west of Luhansk), and 82mm mortars and mounted and automatic grenade launchers on Ukrainian positions near Verkhniotoretske (22km north-east of Donetsk). The Ukrainian servicemen used duty fire weapons to stop the enemy shelling," he said.

In addition, in the morning, the Russian-occupation troops used grenade launchers of different systems to shell Ukrainian positions near Novotroitske (36km south-west of Donetsk) and Avdiivka (17km north of Donetsk).

According to available information, no casualties among Ukrainian military have been reported; the enemy's losses are being specified.
