OSCE records about 150 explosions in Donbas per day

On Tuesday, March 31, the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission to Ukraine (SMM) recorded fewer ceasefire violations in both Donetsk and Luhansk regions compared with the previous 24 hours.

The OSCE SMM said this in a report issued on April 1, based on information from the monitoring teams received as of 19:30 on March 31, 2020.

"In Donetsk region, the SMM recorded fewer ceasefire violations, including fewer explosions (about 125), compared with the previous reporting period (about 405 explosions)," the report says.

The majority of ceasefire violations were recorded at westerly directions of Horlivka (non-government-controlled, 39km north-east of Donetsk), in areas close to the Donetsk Filtration Station (DFS) (15km north of Donetsk), and at northerly directions of Shyrokyne (government-controlled, 100km south of Donetsk).

“In Luhansk region, the SMM recorded fewer ceasefire violations, including fewer explosions (about 20), compared with the previous reporting period (34 explosions),” the report notes.

The majority of ceasefire violations were recorded at easterly directions of Zolote (government-controlled, 60km west of Luhansk) and in areas north-west of Krasnyi Lyman (non-government-controlled, 30km north-west of Luhansk).

According to the report, on 31 March, positioned inside the disengagement area near Stanytsia Luhanska (government-controlled, 16km north-east of Luhansk), the SMM observed a calm situation. Throughout the day, the SMM observed four members of the armed formations (wearing armbands with “JCCC” written on them) between the new span of the Stanytsia Luhanska bridge (15km north-east of Luhansk) and their checkpoint south of it.

During the evening of 30 March, the SMM camera in Zolote recorded five undetermined explosions, ten projectiles in flight and an illumination flare, all at an assessed range of 2- 3km east and east-north-east and assessed as outside the disengagement area near Zolote but within 5km of its periphery. During the day on 31 March, the SMM saw two members of the armed formations (wearing armbands with “JCCC” written on them) near the southern edge of the disengagement area.
