Russian-backed forces shell residential areas on outskirts of Marinka

Russian-backed forces have fired on residential areas on the outskirts of Marinka in Ukraine's Donetsk region, the press center of the Joint Forces Operation (JFO) headquarters has said.

"Russian occupation troops have organized a too loud 'ceasefire' regime for peaceful residents of Marinka in Donetsk region – the staff and students of secondary school No. 2 in this town," the report reads.

In particular, representatives of Russian armed groups used small arms and automatic grenade launchers to fire on residential areas on the outskirts of Marinka.

"Officers of a civil-military cooperation group of the Joint Forces established that the school was also located in the shelling area," the press center said.

The staff of the educational institution quickly evacuated young residents of Donbas to the school's bomb shelter.

"When the shelling was over, National Police officers brought the school's students and staff out of the dangerous area and drove them home. Fortunately, there are no casualties among locals and schoolchildren," the JFO headquarters said.

It added that the Ukrainian Armed Forces would open fire on the enemy "if his actions endanger the lives or health of civilians."
