Germany to allocate EUR 1.5 mln for medical equipment for Ukrainian military

Germany will allocate EUR 1.5 million for the purchase of medical equipment for Ukrainian military personnel.

"NB for those who think that Germany is allegedly not assisting Ukraine in the military sphere: the defense ministries of Ukraine and Germany have signed an agreement on Berlin’s allocation of EUR 1.5 million for the purchase of medical equipment (mobile x-ray machines, digital surgery machines and angiography machines)," Ukraine's Ambassador to Germany Andriy Melnyk wrote on Twitter.

Germany has provided nearly EUR 1.4 billion in financial assistance to Kyiv since the beginning of the conflict in eastern Ukraine.

In particular, EUR 544 million has been allocated for development cooperation since 2014. In addition, the humanitarian aid to Ukraine from the German government has totaled EUR 110 million and Germany has provided loans to the tune of EUR 500 million. Another EUR 25 million has been spent on measures to stabilize the situation, including monitoring of the conflict in Donbas.

According to an update from the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development, Germany is the third largest Ukraine’s donor after the EU and the USA.
