Disengagement of troops in Petrivske and Zolote postponed due to shelling

The disengagement of troops in the village of Petrivske and the town of Zolote in Donbas, which was scheduled to begin on October 7, has been postponed due to ceasefire violations by pro-Russian militants.

"The disengagement [in Petrivske and Zolote] was scheduled for today. Our negotiating teams really agreed on that in Minsk. Unfortunately, you know that Petrivske and Zolote came under fire a few days ago and, as you may remember, we agreed to start the disengagement on the seventh day after peace was maintained on that particular site and no shelling was recorded,” Foreign Minister of Ukraine Vadym Prystaiko said at a joint briefing with Foreign Minister of Latvia Edgars Rinkēvičs in Kyiv, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

Now it is necessary to wait for the next seven days of ceasefire which should prove that the parties have serious intentions and are ready for such further steps as the disengagement, the Ukrainian minister added.

As reported, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Latvia Edgars Rinkēvičs makes an official visit to Ukraine on October 7-8.
