Disengagement of forces starts in Stanytsia Luhanska

Ukrainian military force has left one position near the Stanytsia Luhanska checkpoint as part of the first stage of the disengagement process in Donbas, the press center of the Joint Forces Headquarters reports.

"At noon today, the Ukrainian military withdrew from one of the positions that was in front of the Stanytsia Luhanska checkpoint. Everything was happening under the supervision of the OSCE representatives on both sides [of the contact line]. Commander of Ukraine's Joint Forces Oleksandr Syrsky was monitoring the disengagement of military forces ," the press center reports on its Facebook page on June 26.

According to the JFO commander, this is the first stage of disengagement on the outskirts of Stanytsia Luhanska.

"It is not yet known whether the enemy has withdrawn its troops; therefore, representatives of the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission to Ukraine have already been monitoring the situation," the JFO press center said.

Ukraine's representative in the Trilateral Contact Group Leonid Kuchma is also expected to arrive one of these days to continue the disengagement process to reach the lines stipulated in the Minsk agreements.

The JFO press center published a detailed video report on the disengagement of forces.
