Ukraine holds air defense exercises in Donbas

Tactical air defense exercises have taken place in the area of the Joint Forces Operation (JFO) in Donbas according to the decision of Ukrainian Joint Forces Commander Serhiy Nayev, the press service of the JFO headquarters has reported on Facebook.

"The exercises were attended by divisions, batteries and other air defense units of the tactical groups of the Joint Forces," the statement reads.

It notes that the drills were conducted to increase the effectiveness of the Joint Forces' air defense system and improve the practical skills of combat services and squads when organizing an air defense combat in the general air defense system.

According to the headquarters, during the exercises, squads worked out the skills of combat duty, destruction of airspace trespassers, repulsion of an air strike, cover of a unit during the offensive, and destruction of air targets, including at extremely low altitudes, by means of direct cover.

Exercise participants showed the readiness to keep control of the airspace and cover from the air the actions of the infantry from enemy strikes, the report said.
