Russian-backed forces shell Maryinka, damage six buildings

Russian-backed forces have shelled the residential quarters of Maryinka, a frontline city in Donetsk region, damaging six houses, the press service of the Ukrainian Interior Ministry has reported.

"Mortar shelling began today, on May 3, at 05:30. The first report from citizens came on May 3 at about 06:00. An investigative team of the Maryinka police department left for the scene to document the aftermath of the attack. Damage to six buildings and two cars has currently been documented," the report reads.

It notes that the fragments of the shells damaged the windows, facades of buildings, fences, agricultural premises, and even vehicles. Police seized the remains of mines that hit the yard.

No one was hurt.

The local police force is patrolling the bombarded area to provide residents with the necessary assistance in a timely manner. The Interior Ministry said that shelling resumes periodically.

Criminal proceedings have been launched under Article 258 (terrorist attack) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
